Do you want to help shape the future of Halmstad? We are currently in a period of major expansion projects in the heart of the city, projects that impact the entire municipality. We are now looking for a person to strengthen our work within traffic. As a Traffic Strategist, you work in the early stages of urban planning and contribute to long-term solutions that affect how people move and live. The role is central to achieving the municipality's goals for sustainable and attractive urban development.

Your responsibilities

You belong to a unit of 14 employees working with physical strategic planning. The unit includes competencies such as planning architects, city architect, municipal ecologists, water and wastewater strategists, traffic strategists, property strategists, and climate adaptation strategists. The unit leads, coordinates, and follows up on the municipality's work in societal development and is part of a department together with the Business Unit, the Planning Unit, and the Land and Development Unit.

In the role of Traffic Strategist, you will:

• Take overall responsibility for the municipality's work on transport.
• Lead, coordinate, and follow up on goals within the transport area for the municipal group.
• Participate in the early stages of urban planning, for example, in the preparation of the comprehensive plan, detailed comprehensive plans, structure plans, feasibility studies, and action selection studies.
• Provide advisory support in detailed planning.
• Collaborate with the Technical and Property Administration, Hallandstrafiken, the Swedish Transport Administration, Region Halland, and other municipalities in southern Sweden.
• Handle issues related to transport for persons with disabilities, air quality, and noise.
• Prepare materials, respond to inquiries and motions, and present our work to the political bodies.

Your qualifications

To succeed in the role, you are curious and driven by the desire to understand complex societal issues from multiple perspectives. You work strategically and long-term, with the ability to analyze connections and foresee the consequences of different choices. You are self-motivated and take initiative when you see a need, and you drive issues forward even in situations where all prerequisites are not yet given. At the same time, you have good collaboration skills and actively involve others in the work, as you rely on cooperation to achieve results. You contribute new ideas and perspectives and challenge existing ways of working, while turning strategies into actionable solutions.

Requirements:

• University degree in traffic and/or urban planning.
• At least one year of work experience in the field.
• Very good Swedish in speech and writing.

Merits:

• Experience in traffic planning.
• Basic knowledge of traffic planning systems.
• Class B driver's license.
